At Mariposa, we are fully committed to being a positive, contributing member of our profession. We do this through our membership in industry organizations and participating in industry specific certifications.

| Philosophy. Our belief is that if we train our employees we can provide better service, at more competitive prices, for our clients. Trained staff ensures the job is done right the first time with less supervision. This creates a positive atmosphere that elicits praise and repeat business from our clients and instills a healthy sense of professional pride in our employees. Employees stay longer with us, in part, because our training programs reinforce the fact that we value them and their accomplishments in the landscape field. As our staff members grow in knowledge and expertise, they can be given greater responsibilities and can become eligible for promotion. |

| The Basics. Landscaping is intimately connected with plants. Therefore, plant identification is a basic part of our training program. Of course, it's modified by region and for each of our divisions, Construction, Maintenance and Tree Care. Along with plant identification, plant requirements and growth characteristics are also taught. Next are proper planting techniques, tree staking, sod installation, trimming techniques and other related skills. We consider it vital that our employees are familiar with the most basic aspect of our profession. Safety and Equipment. Our work requirements vary greatly from mowing sports turf to earth moving operations to operating hi-reach booms for tree trimming. Three things are apparent with equipment operation: The right piece of equipment must be used, the operator must be trained and work must be done safely at all times. Our inventory is extensive with hundreds of pieces of diverse equipment. We provide training in the safe operation of all of our equipment. |

| Advanced studies. It comes as a surprise to some that trigonometry is required in calculating grades, volumes must be converted for material handling or hydraulic flow calculations are required in irrigation design but landscaping can require some serious math skills. We have an advanced program that covers math used in our work. This training is open to all of our workers, taking them to the next level. |
